-Chúng ta nói a friend of mine/yours/his/hers/ours/theirs (chứ không nói a friend of me/you/him v.v…)
Ex: I’m going to a wedding on Saturday. A friend of mine is getting married.
We went on holiday with some friends of ours.
It was a good idea of yours to go swimming this afternoon.
B/ My own … / yours own …
- Chúng ta thường dùng my/ your/his/her/its/our/their trước own:
Ex: My own house your own car her own room
Bạn không thể nói an own … (an own house, an own car …)
- My own/ yours own … = một cái gì đó của riêng tôi/ anh, không chia sẻ hoặc cho ai khác mượn:
Ex: I don’t want to share a room with anyone. I want my own room.
Ann and Marry would like to have their own house.
It’s a pity that the flat hasn’t got its own entrance.
It’s my own fault that I’ve got no money. I buy too many things I don’t need.
- Bạn cũng có thể dùng … own … để nói rằng chính bạn làm điều gì đó chứ không phải ai khác làm cho bạn.
Ex: Trang usually cuts his own hair. (= he cuts it himself; he doesn’t go to hair-dresser).
I’d like to have a garden so that I could grow my own vegetables. (= grow them myself instead of buying them from shops).
